Re: UPSC Combined Defence Services Examination Exam Date

CDS Exam or Combined Defence Service Examination is an exam conducted twice every year by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to induct officers into the Indian Defense Forces i.e. the Army and the Air Force.

CDS I 2016 Important Dates:


Releasing date of CDS I 2016 Notification: 7th, November 2015.

Final Date of Receipt of Applications: 4th, December 2015

CDS I 2016 Admit cards download date: – January to February 2016

Exam Date of CDS I 2016: 14th February 2016

Result Date of CDS I 2016: May 2016

CDS II 2016 Important Dates:


Releasing date of CDS II 2016 Notification: 16th July, 2016

Final Date of Receipt of Applications: 12th August 2016

Exam Date of CDS II 2016: 23rd October, 2016

CDS (I & II) 2016 Selection Process:-

Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of written exam.
Then short listed candidates will be called for SSB (Service Selection Board).

CDS 1 & CDS II 2016 eligibility criteria:
CDS 1 2016 age limit:

Interested candidates must be between the ages of 20 to 24 years for (IMA) and 25 years for (Officer Training Academy). Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government rules.

CDS 1 2016 educational qualification:
For the posts in OTA and IMA interested candidates must holds Degree of a recognized university/correspondent

For Indian Naval Academy posts; candidates must holds Degree in engineering programme from an acknowledged university.

For Air Force Academy posts; candidates must holds Degree of a recognized university with Math and Physics at 12th Level.

Girls candidates are only eligible for Officer Training Academy.

Physical eligibility:

Aspirants must be physically strong according to physical standards for admission to CDS 1 (Combined Defense Services Examination 1) as per guidelines.

CDS (I & II) 2016 Written Exam Pattern/duration for IMA, INA and AFA:
Paper Subject Duration Maximum Marks
1. Elementary Mathematics 2 Hours 100
2. General Knowledge 2 Hours 100
3. Elementary Mathematics 2 Hours 100

Total time duration is 2 hrs and total marks are 300

CDS (I & II) 2016 Written Exam Pattern/duration for OTA:

Paper Subject Duration Maximum Marks
1. General Knowledge 2 Hours 100
2. English 2 Hours 100

Total time duration is 2 hrs and total marks are 200
