The syllabus of Junior Engineer (Trainee) in Civil & Electrical Engineering exam of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) on which the question paper is based is as follows:

General Hindi:
The questions are asked so as to test the knowledge of candidates through questions like Error spotting, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Fill in the Blanks, Active/Passive Voice, Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms, Homonyms), Direct/Indirect narration are asked in the exam. Also, the Comprehension Passages are given in the exam and the candidate needs to answer the questions following them.

General Knowledge:
The questions will be asked from political events, culture, History, Geography, Socio Economic issues, language etc. Also there are questions asked from current events of National and International importance. Some important dates & events should be known for the exam.

Reasoning:
Both verbal and non- verbal reasoning questions are asked in the exam- spatial visualization & orientation, judgment, relationship concepts, verbal & figure classification, decision making, visual memory, coding & decoding, statements & conclusion, Odd man series, missing patterns, problem solving, Similarities & differences
