Re: University of MS Medical Center Credit Union

The University of Mississippi Medical Center School Of Nursing's Traditional BSN program, a program leading to licensure, satisfies the requirements set forth by the governing body in the State of Mississippi. Completion of the program also qualifies graduates to take the NCLEX-RN/ National Council of State Boards of Nursing Examination.

Traditional BSN Admission Information

Admission Criteria

Minimum ACT score of 21 (scores on transcripts are considered unofficial and will not be accepted);

Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (The GPA in required prerequisite coursework will also be considered in the admission process.);

Completion of all prerequisite courses from an accredited college or university by the time the nursing program begins in the summer semester, with a minimum "C" grade in each course;

If one has been dismissed from any nursing program, one year must pass from date of dismissal to date of eligibility into any UMMC School of Nursing program.

Prerequisites

The Traditional BSN program is a "2+2" program.

One completes prerequisites at the college, university or community college of choice.

The prerequisites for the UMMC program typically take students two years to complete.

One may apply for admission when the number of prerequisites courses completed, plus those on the application plan of study, equals 62 credit hours.
