The UMASS Medical School has a police department. The University of Massachusetts Police Department in Worcester is committed to provide a safe and secure environment in which students, faculty, staff, patients and visitors can conduct their activities.

The Department uses a community oriented philosophy, and its Officers patrol the University & adjacent roads 24 hours a day, seven days per week in cruisers, on foot and on bikes.

The university of massachusetts police station is located on the main level of the south road visitor's parking garage and is opened & staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

All Police Officers are sworn under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 75.
