Can you tell me about the concentrations offered in MBA (Master in Business Administration) Program School of Business Administration at the University of Houston-Victoria?

The School of Business Administration at the University of Houston-Victoria is a premier school offering business degrees for today and tomorrows business leaders.

Concentration Courses

All Strategic and Global MBA students must take 6 hours within a concentration in addition to the required courses.

Accounting
MBA concentration in accounting preps to be a financial and business strategist ready to implement long-term plans for organization. Students from non-accounting undergraduate programs will need to complete additional undergraduate accounting prerequisite courses.
Strategic MBA students should complete the following required course:
Required: ACCT 6371 - Advanced Auditing
And choose 2 from (one will be used to satisfy the free elective requirement):

ACCT 6354 Corporate Taxation
ACCT 6372 Advanced Studies in Taxation
ACCT 6373 Contemporary Issues in Accounting
ACCT 6374 Seminar in Accounting Ethics
ACCT 6375 Oil & Gas Accounting
ACCT 6376 Tax Research
ACCT 6377 International Accounting
ACCT 6378 Governmental & Not-For-Profit Accounting
ACCT 6380 Forensic Accounting

Economic Development
Make an impact in the communities one work in with a concentration in economic development.
Strategic MBA students should choose two of the courses listed:
EDEN 6350 Introduction to Economic Development and Entrepreneurship
EDEN 6355 Economic Development and Entrepreneurial Finance
EDEN 6356 Methods in Economic Development
EDEN 6357 Practice of local Economic Development
EDEN 6358 Theory & Practice of Regional Economic Development

Entrepreneurship
Choose a concentration in entrepreneurship while completing Strategic or Global MBA, and is developing strategies for the start-up phase of a new business and on into the next phase.
Strategic MBA students should choose two of the courses listed:
EDEN 6350 Introduction to Economic Development and Entrepreneurship
EDEN 6351 Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship & Innovation
EDEN 6352 Developing the Business Plan
EDEN 6353 Nurturing & Growing the Fledgling Venture
EDEN 6354 Growing the Successful Venture
EDEN 6355 Economic Development and Entrepreneurial Finance

Finance
MBA students may choose to complete four finance electives or three finance electives plus one accounting, economics or study abroad elective.
Strategic MBA students should choose two of the courses listed:
FINC 6361 Investments
FINC 6362 Financial Institutions & Markets
FINC 6363 Financial Modeling
FINC 6364 Applied Technical Analysis of Energy and Commodity Markets
FINC 6365 Derivatives
FINC 6366 Risk Management and Insurance

General Business
Strategic MBA students should choose any two concentration elective courses, including study abroad (BUSI 6391).

Human Resources Management
Connect the dots between long-term planning and HR initiatives.
Strategic MBA students should choose two of the courses listed:
MGMT 6375 Seminar in Employment Law
MGMT 6380 Compensation and Employee Benefits
MGMT 6381 Staffing and Employee Development

International Business
Lead organizations in their international business strategies. Manage complex logistical and organizational issues with a global perspective when graduate with a concentration in international business.
