NET is the abbreviated form of the National Eligibility Test .It is organized by UGC twice in a year.

UGC NET Exam Important Dates:
Last date for Applying Online : Monday; May 05, 2014
Last date of submission of Fee through online generated Bank Challan : Wednesday; May 07, 2014
Last date of taking printout of Application Form, Attendance Slip and Admit Card from UGC website : Saturday; May 10, 2014

Eligibility:
Aspirants must be citizen of India.
Candidates must hold post graduation degree.
Aspirants must score 55% in PG course,50% for SC/ST.
No upper age limitation.

Exam pattern:
NET exam consists of 3 sections.
Paper I is common for all subject candidates and will mainly consists of questions from
Teaching and Research Aptitude
General Science
General Knowledge
Quantitative Reasoning
General Aptitude
Elementary basics of Computer Science
Current Affairs
Paper II & III will be separate for each subject applicants and will comprise of questions from the respective subject areas.

Paper I will consist of 60 questions of 2 marks each

Paper II comprises of 50 objective type questions each carrying 2 marks which have to be answered within 75 minutes

Paper III consists of 2 essays of 20 marks each, 3 analytical/ evaluative questions of 15 marks each, 9 definitional/ short answer type questions of 10 marks each and 5 text based questions of 5 marks each.
In total, the applicants has to answer 19 questions of 200 marks within 150 minutes.

UGC NET entrance exam will be used for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for eligibility as Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges.

Important Dates:

Online Form Submission - 15th October, 2014 to 15th November, 2014

Last date for Applying Online & generation of filled Bank Challan for Fee. - 15th November, 2014

Last date of submission of Fee through online generated Bank Challan, at any branch of (SYNDICATE/CANARA/ICICI BANK) - 18th November, 2014

Last date of taking printout of Application Form, Attendance Slip and Admit Card from website - 19th November, 2014

Last date for receiving the printout of online Application Form (one copy) and Attendance Slip (one copy) at the respective Coordinating Institution opted by the candidate (with fee receipt & category certificate(s) - 25th November, 2014

Issue of e-Admission Certificate to registered candidates: Mid December 2014

CSIR will hold the Joint CSIR-UGC Test on December 28, 2014
