Central Board of Secondary Education organizes National Eligibility for Indian nationals as Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges.

Age Eligibility Criteria :-

Junior Research Fellowship: The age limit for JRF is 28 years of age.

Lectureship: There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship eligibility.

A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the applicants belonging to SC/ST/ PWD/OBC

Relaxation will also be provided to applicants having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority.

Three years’ relaxation in age will be permissible to applicants possessing L.L.M. Degree.

The basic objective of the UGC NET is to determine eligibility for college & university level lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research.

You are asking for the UGC NET Entrance Exam Age Eligibility. Here I am providing you details about the eligibility of the UGC NET Entrance Exam. This is as follows:


Junior Research Fellowship:


Not more than 28 years as on 01.06.2014.

A relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC

Assistant Professor:

There is no upper age limit for applying for eligibility for Assistant Professor.

Education qualification:

The Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC


UGC NET Important Dates 2015

Last date of receipt of duly completed hard copy of CSIR UGC NET online application in the examination unit will be on 17th March, 2015

Last date of receipt of duly completed hard copy of on line application in the Examination Unit ( from remote areas ) will be on 23rd March, 2015

Last Date for receipt of written request for change of Examination Centre only on merit basis will be on 20th April, 2015

Tentative date of Publication of list of candidates registered for test on CSIR, HRDG website will be on 15th May, 2015
