The University Of Georgia School Of Law is regarded as one of the Georgia’s top law schools. It offers the Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) and the Master of Laws degree (LL.M.)

LL.M. Requirements

Enrollment Requirements

All candidates must possess an academic record and study program acceptable to the admissions committee. To be considered for admission the LL.M. program, candidates must submit:

The equivalent to the United States J.D. from a recognized foreign law school and have completed the educational requirements necessary to be admitted to the practice of law in a country other than the U.S.

Only foreign-educated attorneys are eligible for admission to the UGA LL.M. program - candidates with a J.D. from a U.S. law school are not eligible for admission to the UGA LL.M. program.

Typically LL.M. candidates have completed, or will complete prior to their enrollment in the UGA LL.M. program, the LL.B. degree from a non-U.S. institution.

The minimum TOEFL score required to be considered for admission is 80, with no less than a score of 20 in the Speaking section and no less than a score of 20 in the Writing section.

The minimum IELTS score required to be considered for admission is 6.5, with no individual band score below 6.0.

TOEFL or IELTS scores are not required for those applicants for whom English is a native language or for those applicants who have a degree from a college or university whose language of instruction is English.

English language certificate programs do not meet the requirements for a waiver. The University of Georgia School of Law LL.M. program does not offer conditional admission under any circumstances.

LL.M. applicants who require a student visa are required to submit bank documents in English proving their ability to financially support themselves during their year of study in the United States prior to enrollment.

A non-resident student with no scholarship award will have to provide evidence of available Funds greater than or equal to $56,025.

If a scholarship is awarded, this amount is reduced by the value of the scholarship. Tuition Equalizing Scholarships are valued at approximately $20,000.

Graduate Assistantship awards are valued at approximately $46,000. For more information about cost and scholarship opportunities, see the Tuition & Expenses page.
