One applying in it typically pursue health related professions such as medicine, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, speech-language pathology, dentistry, epidemiology, or public health. It is limited access which requires student to apply to the program in their sophomore year. If accepted, one has the opportunity to enrol in a specialized curriculum while continuing to complete their prerequisite coursework for graduate school. The BHS program includes two majors: Health Science and Communication Sciences & Disorders. Students entering the Health Science major can choose from three specialty tracks: General Health Science, Pre-Occupational Therapy, or Pre-Public Health. Each track consists of coursework designed to expand the student’s health care knowledge, better understand human disease and disability, improve leadership and communication skills, and help the student think critically about various individual and public health issues. In the same way, one entering the Communication Sciences & Disorders major enrol in a specialized curriculum designed to prepare students interested in pursuing graduate education in either speech-language pathology or audiology. • Degree Awarded for all Tracks: Bachelor of Health Science (BHS) • Total # Hours Required for Graduation: 120 (from freshman through senior year) • Total # Hours required in the Junior-Senior Year: 60 semester credits of 3000-level coursework or higher. 2000-level courses taken in the junior-senior years do not count toward the 60 semester credits of required junior-senior level coursework. |
