Re: TYPICAL SAT Scores

SAT is a globally recognised standardised test that is taken for admission at US colleges. SAT provides a yardstick for colleges to compare students for admission to their various programs.

Features

Emphasis on general reasoning skills
Emphasis on vocabulary, often in limited contexts
Complex scoring (a point for a correct answer and a deduction for an incorrect answer; blank responses have no impact on scores)

SAT Score

New SAT (of 1600) Old SAT (of 2400)
Excellent (top 25%) 1200 1800
Good (Average) 1000 1500
Poor (lowest 25%) 840 1260

The round number 1000 is not a coincidence.

The SAT makers actually design the test so the overall average score is 1000, and the average score per section is 500.

Remember, the lowest you can score on the SAT is 400, and the highest you can score is 1600.
