The Department of Tourism, Govt. of India, under the ministry of Tourism and Culture has been providing liberal financial and technical support for the tourism development in the state based on the projects received from the state and is trying to develop tourist facilities at various places.

It is one of the popular departments of govt. of Nagaland. The office of the Director, Department of Tourism, Nagaland is located at Kohima. Tourist information centres are also located at the Tourist Lodge, Dimapur and Nagaland House, Kolkata. The Liaison Officers at Nagaland House at New Delhi also provides tourist information.
