TOEFL Typing Practice

About the TOEFL Typing test :

The average typing speed is around 40 wpm (words per minute). We should assume that TOEFL test takers may commonly have lower speeds. I would estimate that the average speed of a TOEFL test taker might be around 30 wpm.

Timing
The TOEFL iBT has two writing tasks:
1) A 20-minute task, which should be 150-225 words.
2) And a 30-minute task, which should be at least 300 words.
Things to Remember for the Typing test is as follow :

Time should be taken to write a quick outline before beginning the actual response (2-5min).
Time should be taken to review your response and edit it after writing (5 min).
This leaves only about 10-13 minutes to actually type your response.
The earlier you finish, the more time you will have to edit, re-write, add details, catch mistakes, etc. These are crucial things for people aiming for a good score, and they really make a difference.
