The Social Service League was started with the sole intention of educating and enlightening the farm labourers and assistants in the evenings by the 1954 batch UG students of Agricultural College and Research Institute, Coimbatore.

Later, the League, set foot on the next level by starting regular evening classes for the children of the labourers and employees of AC&RI. After a while, students from Poosaripalayam, P.N.Pudur, Seeranaickanpalayam, Lawley road and Milk company areas poured in to join hands with the other kids.

In 1989, with strength of 150 students, an additional branch of SSL emerged at Telugupalayam, classes are held six days a week from 5.45 p.m. to 7.30 p.m in both the campuses.
