INTRODUCTION:
The field of management has undergone a sea change and has today assumed the form of a profession with a well-defined body of knowledge. This knowledge is continuously evolving and new issues and findings are constantly emerging. This field is attracting many people who want to undergo a formal training in this area.

COURSE OBJECTIVE:
1. This subject is designed to provide a basic understanding to the students with reference to working of business organizations through the process of management.
2. The first part of this course (offered in the first semester) will give a brief understanding of the managerial functions of planning (including decision making) and organizing.
3. The second part (offered in the second semester) will throw light on the managerial functions of staffing, directing and controlling.

COURSE OUTCOMES:
At the end of the course, the student should have developed:
An appreciation of the principles of management and basic functional areas of management
