The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research is conferred the status of a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission.

The Deemed University will function under the direction of an Academic Council chaired by the Director, TIFR.

This document sets down the basic guidelines under which the Deemed University will operate.

University Fees

The following fee structure has been approved by the Academic Council, TIFR:
General Fees (Annual) PhD. Int. M.Sc.-Ph.D.
Before Registration Rs. 4,000/- Rs. 2,000/-
After Registration Rs. 4,000/- Rs. 4,000/-

One-time fees PhD. Int. M.Sc.-Ph.D.
Registration Fees Rs. 1,000/- Rs. 1,500/-
Thesis Fees Rs. 4,000/- Rs. 4,000/-
M.Sc. Thesis Fees ― Rs. 1,000/-
