TIFR string theory

Can any one tell me about the String Theory and the Unification of Forces of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research? Will you please tell me about the Research Activity of Department of Theoretical Physics? Will you please provide me the contact details of the Department of Theoretical Physics of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research?

Re: TIFR string theory

The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research is provides String theory. This is also known by names such as "superstring theory" and sometimes "M-theory".

The string theory is an idea that has been around for a rather long time, over two decades.

It is, at one and the same time, a logical continuation of established theoretical notions dating back over half a century, and a radical new paradigm in fundamental physics.

Summary of all fundamental forces and force-carriers known or believed to exist as of today:

Force Range Mediating Particle Spin
Gravitation Long Graviton 2
Electromagnetism Long Photon 1
Weak Nuclear Force Short W+, W-, Z bosons 1
Strong Nuclear Force Short Gluons 1

The Five String Theories:

Name Type of Strings Gravity? Gauge Symmetry? Parity
Type I Open and Closed Yes SO(32) Violating
Type IIA Closed Yes No Conserving
Type IIB Closed Yes No Violating
Heterotic Closed Yes SO(32) Violating
Heterotic Closed Yes E(8) x E(8) Violating
