TIFR GATE Admissions

Is GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score compulsory for admission in TIFR GS (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Graduate School) or giving the written test of the institute is enough for TIFR GS Admissions? Tell me in detail about its admission process?

GRADUATE SCHOOL (GS-2016):

Ph.D.:-
Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs. 25,000/- (enhanced to Rs 28,000/- after registration) and an annual contingency grant Rs.32,000/-.

Integrated Ph.D. -:
Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs.16,000/- for 1st year, Rs. 25,000/- from 2nd year onwards (enhanced to Rs 28,000/- after registration) and an annual contingency grant of Rs.20,000/- for 1st year and Rs.32,000/- from 2nd year onwards.
Accommodation is provided to Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D. students at a ostensible cost.

ELIGIBILITY:

For Ph.D.:-
M.Sc. in Physics / M.E. / M.Tech./M.S in (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical & Metallurgical and Materials ) or equivalent.

For I-Ph.D.-:
B.Sc. in Physics / B.E. / B.Tech. in (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical & Metallurgical and Materials) or equivalent.

In addition the candidate must have qualified in any of the following examinations:

The written test of TIFR (2014 or 2015), GATE (Minimum score of 420 in 2015-2016)/ JEST / CSIR UGC NET (JRF eligible).

Candidates with M.Tech. / M.E. / M.S. (Engg.) can submit their earlier scores of GATE / equivalent.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
Selected candidates (based on their academic performance and in the qualifying tests mentioned above) will be called for a personal interview .
