Thapar University was granted full autonomy and the status of a University in 1985 by the UGC. It was ranked #28 by the Outlook India top Engineering Colleges of 2012. It was ranked #5 by the limited participation CSR-GHRDC Engineering Colleges Survey 2011.

MSc in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/ Electronics/Physics/Operations Research/Information Science/Information Technology OR

Eligibility for Admission
Thapar University admission to all the M Tech programmes is done on the basis of valid GATE score in respective discipline. First preference is given to GATE qualified candidates.

After offering seats to the GATE qualified candidates, for seats remaining vacant (if any), the admission is made on the merit of the entrance test to be conducted by the University across India and only those candidates who shall be having minimum 20% ( 15% for SC / ST ) in the entrance test are considered for admission.

Thapar University Admission to M Tech programme is open to a candidate who obtains at least 50% marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination from a recognized University.
