Re: Tech Mahindra exam paper pattern
Tech Mahindra exam is an online test. It contains five sections. There are 75 Questions and the time allowed is 1 hour. Part I - Verbal Reasoning: Percantage Profit and loss Time and Work Problems on Ages Problems on Numbers Part II Non-verbal Reasoning (Numeric & alphabetatical series questions, Venn Diagram, Time & Direction Q., ) Part III – Fill in the Blanks (It contains tenses, form of verb & preposition) Part IV – Multiple Choice Question (It contains vocabulary, errors) Part V- Reading Comprehension (A comprehension is given with blanks) Tech Mahindra placement paper Placement Question 1 Consider a group of working men. If 1/10th of the workers are absent then work of each person would be increased by. a. 20% b. 22.22% c. 10% d. 11.11% Answer 1 Answer is d. 11.11% Question 1 Arun Kumar, Chennakesavan , Raghu and Krishnan always have discussions on various issues such as politics, international affairs, current affairs, studies etc. Once Raghu posed the following query to other group members: “Find the range of real values of x satisfying the inequalities 4x - 5 > 7 and 5x - 14 > 16" a) x > 3 b) x > 6 c) x < 3 d) x < 6 Answer : b) x> 6 Solution : 4x - 5 > 7 => 4x > 12 => x > 3 ...(1) and 5x - 14 > 16 => 5x >30 => x > 6 ...(2) Since 6 is greater than 3, for both inequalities namely (1) and (2) to be satisfied, x should be greater than 6 or x > 6. Question 2 Krishnakumar, Raghunandan, Chinnan and Aibak had an interesting discussion on the following: “Find the range of real values of x not satisfying even one of the inequalities 6x - 8 > 40 and 9x - 19 > 80" a) x greater than 8 b) x lesser than or equal to 8 c) x lesser to 8 d) x greater than or equal to 8 Answer : b) x lesser than or equal to 8 Solution : 6x – 8 > 40 => 6x >48 => x > 8 ...(1) And 9x – 19 > 80 = > 9x >99 => x >11 ...(2) For both the inequalities to hold true, x should be greater than 11, and for values of x greater than 8, at least the first inequality (1) will be satisfied. For x not to satisfy both the inequalities, it has to be equal to or lesser than 8. Therefore, our answer is x lesser than or equal to 8 Question 3 Ideal Engineering and Technology College students Ramesh, Suresh, Ganesh and Mahesh were discussing on a problem as given under: “If y = x +2, Find the range of real values of y satisfying the inequalities 16x - 6 > 42 and 7x - 24 < 60" a) 5 < y < 14 b) 3 < y < 12 c) 1 < y < 10 d) y < 10 Answer : a) 5 < y < 14 Solution : 16x – 6 > 42 => 16x >48 => x>3 ...(1) And 7x – 24 < 60 = > 7x <84=>x<12 ..(2) Substituting x = y - 2, in (1) and (2) we get, y - 2 > 3 and y - 2<12 Or y > 5 or y < 14 Combining the above range, we get, 5 < y < 14 Question 1 Aravamudhan, Balakrishnan and Chinnan work in a developing software company in starting level positions. However their salaries are different. Aravamudhan’s salary to Balakrishnan’s salary and Balakrishnan’s salary to Chinnan’s salary are in the ratio 4:3. If the total salary of all the three employees is Rs.29230, what is the salary of Chinnan? a) Rs.12640 b) Rs.9480 c) Rs.7110 d) Rs.8660 Answer : c) Rs.7110 Solution : Aravamudhan’s salary : Balakrishnan’s Salary = 4 : 3 Balakrishnan’s salary : Chinnan’s salary = 4 :3 If we assume Aravamudhan’s salary to be 4, Balakrishnan’s Salary would be Rs. 3. But we know Balakrishnan’s salary / Chinnan's Salary = 4/3 Or 3/Chinnan's Salary = 4/3 Or Chinnan's Salary = 9/4 Total Salary of three friends = 4 + 3 + 9/4 = 16+12+9/4 = 37/4 Total Salary Chinnan's Salary 37/4 9/4 29230 ? When total salary is 29239, Chinnan's salary would be 29230 x (9/4) / (37/4) = 29230 x 9/37 = Rs. 7110 Question 2 Three cricket players -- Ramesh, Suresh and Ganesh play for three different cricket Teams – Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan respectively. Ramesh was born in Chennai but brought up in Karnal, Haryana. Suresh was born in Delhi and brought up in Delhi. Ganesh’s fore-fathers were from Madurai but settled in Rajasthan. All the three participated in a cricket tournament. Ramesh’s runs to Suresh’s runs and Suresh’s runs to Ganesh’s runs are in the ratio 5:7. If the total runs scored by all the three players in the tournament is 327, find the total runs scored by Suresh in the tournament? a) 95 b) 85 c) 65 d) 105 Answer : d) 105 Solution : Ramesh's Score : Suresh's Score = 5 : 7 Suresh's Score : Ganesh's Score = 5 : 7 If Ramesh's Score is 5, Then Suresh's Score would be 7. But, Suresh's Score / Ganesh's Score = 5/7 7/ Ganesh's Score = 5/7 Or Ganesh's Score = 49/5 Then, Ramesh's Score : Suresh's Score : Ganesh's Score = 5 : 7 : 49/5 Total Score = 5 + 7 + 49/5 = 109/5 Total Score Suresh's Score 109/5 7 327 ? When total score is 327, Suresh's score would be 327 x 7 / (109/5) = 327 x 35 / 109 = 105 Question 3 A famous film director thought of an interesting story and he made a film in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. He release the movie at the same time in all the three languages. The movie had Dhanush, Kamalhasan, Sruthi Hasan and Akdhsay Bachchan in lead role. The collections made was interesting to study. Collections in Hindi to Tamil and Tamil to Telugu was in the ratio 5: 4. If the collection made in language Tamil alone was Rs. 19753080, what was the total collection made. a) Rs.60246894 b) Rs.26024689 c) Rs.22602468 d) none of these. Answer : a) Rs.60246894 Solution : Collections in Hindi : Tamil = 5 : 4 Collection in Tamil : Telugu = 5 : 4 If the collection in Hindi was 5, Then Tamil collection would be 4 Tamil Collection / Telugu Collection = 5 / 4 4 / Telugu Collection = 5/4 Or Telugu Collection = 16/5 Then, Collections in Hindi : Tamil : Telugu = 5 : 4 : 16/5 Total Collection = 5 + 4 + 16/5 = 61/5 Total Collection Tamil Collection 61/5 4 ? 19753080 When Tamil Collection is 19753080, the total collection would be 19753080 x (61/5) / 4 = 19753080 x 61 / 20 = 60246894 |
