The main functions of the Department of Computer Science at Tamil Nadu Open University are: • To plan, develop and implement programmes at Post Graduation, Graduation, Diploma and Certificate programmes in the emerging areas of Computer Science • To facilitate the graduates to acquire necessary technical skills in order to find better opportunities in IT sector • To educate the Software Professionals to move to next level by imparting training on their current requirements • To propose and train the learner to understand the latest technologies • To aim and develop course materials on both print and electronic media The course structure for the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications at Tamil Nadu Open University PGDCA Proposed Structure Semester I Course Title Computer Fundamentals Data Structures through C Elements of System Analysis and Design Introduction to Data Base Management System Introduction to Computer Organisation Introduction to Software Engineering C++ and Object Oriented Programming Theory of Computer Science Programming in C with Data Structure Object Oriented Programming Using C++ syllabus for the PGDCA of the Tamil Nadu Open University Please find the question paper for the PGDCA semester I as given beow: 1. Compare 1's and 2's complements. 2. Explain the method of converting numbers in (a) Decimal form to binary form (b) Octal form to decimal form. 3. Draw structure of control unit. 4. Define firmware?
