The Admissions to MBBS programmes in Government and private colleges in Tamil Nadu will be done on the basis of NEET 2017 scores.

The Tamil Nadu MBBS Merit List has been released on August 23 by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The Admission will be for 85% of State Quota seats in Government Medical Colleges and Government Quota seats in Self Financing Private Medical Colleges including the seats surrendered to Government by Rajah Muthiah Medical and Dental College, Annamalai University, Chidambaram and also for the Management Quota seats in Self Financing Private Medical/Dental Colleges including NRI Quota.

Therefore, Tamil Nadu MBBS BDS Admissions will be conducted for 2,445 MBBS seats in 22 government medical colleges, 127 seats in Rajah Muthiah Medical College and 858 government seats in 11 self-financing colleges, totalling 3,430 MBBS seats, along with 85 BDS seats in the Tamil Nadu Dental College, 68 in Rajah Muthiah Dental College and 1,045 government seats in self-financing colleges, totalling 1,198 BDS seats.

Tamil Nadu MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2017

Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects

Candidate must be 17 years of age as on December 1 of year of admission

Candidate must have studied from Class 8th to 12th from a school located in Tamil Nadu

Such candidates have to produce a nativity certificate

Minimum Marks Criteria -

Candidates need to have minimum 50% marks (45% marks for OC/BCM/BC/MBC/DC) in an aggregate of Botany and Zoology as well as at least 50% marks (45% marks for OC/BCM/BC/MBC/DC) each in Physics and Chemistry subjects.

Also, the averagely weighted marks of Botany+Zoology and Physics, Chemistry must be more than 140 out of 200.

For OBC and BC Muslims, the marks should be 130 out of 200, for BC and Denotified Category, the marks should be 120 out of 200 and for SC/ST/SCA should be 80 out of 200.

Only candidates who have passed in each subject at their first attempt will only be considered.
