Re: Syllabus GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test)

All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) conduct the national level Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test in online mode.

The computer based test is of 180 minutes.
The online question paper will carry 125 multiple choice questions.
Negative marking is applicable.
Each correct answer will lead to addition of 4 marks and each wrong answer will lead to deduction of one marks.

Syllabus GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test)

The syllabus of Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test is divided into four major sections namely:
Pharmaceutics
Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Pharmacology
Pharmacognosy

Pharmaceutics
Introduction to Physical pharmacy, Dispersion Systems, Kinetics and Drug Stability, Importance of microbiology in pharmacy,Identification of Microbes, Control of microbes by physical and chemical methods, Sterilization, Immunology and Immunological Preparations, Genetic Recombination, Antibiotics, Pharmaceutical Legislations,Introduction to dispensing and community pharmacy, Importance of unit operations in manufacturing, Stoichiometry, Dosages Forms, designing & evaluation, Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics

Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Inorganic pharmaceutical & medicinal chemistry, Physical Chemistry and its importance in pharmacy, Organic Chemistry and its importance in pharmacy, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis

Pharmacology
Pathophysiology of common diseases, Basic Principles of Cell Injury and Adaptations, Basic Mechanisms involved in the process of inflammation and repair, Immunopathophysiology, Pathophysiology of Common Diseases, Fundamentals of general pharmacology, Pharmacology of Peripheral Nervous System, Pharmacology of Central Nervous System, Pharmacology of Cardiovascular System, Drugs Acting on the Hemopoietic System, Drugs acting on urinary system, Autacoids, Drugs Acting on the Respiratory System, Drugs acting on the Gastrointestinal Tract, Pharmacology of Endocrine System, Chemotherapy, Principles of Toxicology, Basic Concepts of Pharmacotherapy, Important Disorders of Organs, Systems and their Management, CNS Disorders

Pharmacognosy
Sources of Drugs, Classification of Drugs, Cultivation, Collection, Processing and Storage of Crude Drugs, Quality Control of Crude Drugs, Introduction to Active Constituents of Drugs, glycoside containing drugs, alkaloid containing drugs, Studies of Traditional Drugs, General Techniques of Biosynthetic Studies and Basic Metabolic Pathways/Biogenesis
