Hi I would like to know the various components of a switch gear as well as the companies classification of these components?

The apparatus used for switching, controlling and protecting the electrical circuits and equipment is known as switchgear.

Main Components of Switchgear

Switchgear, switchboard and panelboard parts and assemblies include but are not limited to:

• Cabinet or structure
• Doors
• Door closures
• Interlocks
• Bus
• Bus splices
• Bus insulation and standoff insulators
• Bus supports
• Section bus barriers
• Control circuit components
• Control and instrument transformer drawer, tray or trunion
• Control relays
• Protective relays
• Meters and instruments
• Surge arrestors




Classification of Switchgear
Switchgear can be classified on the basis of voltage level in to the following
1. Low voltage (LV) Switchgear
2. Medium voltage (MV) Switchgear
3. High voltage (HV) Switchgear
