A pattern will be same for Stenographer Grade C and D. SSSC organization is conducting stenographer exam. SSC Stenographer exam was held on July 31, 2016

Skill test for Stenographer (Grade C & Grade D) will be conducted in which the candidates would be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English/Hindi at the speed of 80 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade D and 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade C.

The transcription of dictated passage will be allowed on computers only.

Skill Test / Stenography Test

Candidate who has qualified as per result of SSC Stenographer written exam is called for the skill test.

In this test, candidates will be given a dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at 100 wpm (for Stenographer Grade C), 80 wpm (for Stenographer Grade D).

This matter will have to be transcribed on computer in following transcription time.

Stenographer Grade C Stenographer Grade D
Dictation speed 100 wpm 80 wpm
Transcription time for English 40 minutes 50 minutes
Transcription time for Hindi 55 minutes 65 minutes

Those who qualify this test will then be declared as selected for the post of Stenographer Grade C or D, as selected.

Admissible %age of Mistake in Steno Test

Normally 5% for UR and 7% for others
Relax able to 7% for UR and 10% for others if adequate candidates are not available

Admissible Error Limit In SSC Steno Skill Test:

UR(General): 5-7%
OBC: 6-8%
SC/ST: 7-10 %

Type of Errors In SSC Steno Skill Test:

Errors are classified into two types:

Full Errors in SSC Steno Skill Test:
omission of a word or figure.
substitution of a wrong word or figure.
addition of a word or figure not occurring in the passage.
Handwritten additions/corrections/insertions.

Half Errors in SSC Steno Skill Test:
Spelling mistake.
Using singular for plural noun and vice versa.
Transposition of words/group of words in a sentence.
Improper use of capital letters at the beginning of the sentence.
Improper placement of the apostrophe in a word.
Improper spacing between the words or in middle of a single words.
Ambiguous over typing.
Arbitrary and unfamiliar abbreviations
