As an Income Tax Inspector, you will have the following career path

1. Income Tax Officer ( ITO ), a group B Gazetted post, in around 4-6 years
2. The Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax (A.C., I.T.) in around 10-12 years
3. Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax (D.C.I.T.)
4. Joint Commissioner of Income Tax ( J.C.I.T.)
5. Additional Commissioner of Income Tax ( A.D.C.I.T.)
6. Commissioner Of Income Tax

Income Tax Inspector Salary and allowances

(i) Pay Scale 9300-34800
(ii) Grade Pay 4600
(iii) Initial Pay 9300
(iv) Total Pay (i) + (ii ) 13900

As an Income tax Inspector you will be entitled to the following major allowances:

1. DA on Total Pay above
2. Transport Allowance
3. House Rent Allowance(if not provided with quarters)
4. 30 liters petrol.
