Will you please provide the CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) exam pattern and syllabus conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) ?

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) exam from time to time .

SSC CHSL Exam paper pattern:

PART- I

Part - Subject - Maximum Marks:-

I - General Intelligence (50 questions) - 50 marks

II - General Awareness (50 questions) - 50 marks

III Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill) (50 questions) - 50 marks

IV English Language (Basic Knowledge) ( 50 questions ) - 50 marks

Duration:- 2 Hours

The Paper will consist of Objective Type-Multiple choice questions only.

There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-I, III & IV.

Skill Test for Data Entry Operators:

Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer.

Syllabus :

General Intelligence:-

The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/pattern - folding & unfolding, Symbolic/Number Analogy , Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern– folding and completion, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Number Series, Embedded figures, Coding and de- coding, Other sub- topics, if any Numerical operations.

English Language:-

Spot the Error , Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting Mis- spelt words, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage.

Quantitative Aptitude:

Arithmetic:

Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Relationship between numbers, Decimal and Fractions, Fundamental arithmetical operations: Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business,Mixture and Alligation , Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound).

ALGEBRA:-
Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and Graphs of Linear Equations.

GEOMETRY:-
Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts: Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Circle and its chords, tangents, Congruence and similarity of triangles, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles.

MENSURATION:-
Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base.

TRIGONOMETRY:-
Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios , Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities like sin 20 + Cos 20=1 etc.

STATISTICAL CHARTS:-
Use of Tables and Graphs: Frequency polygon,Bar-diagram, Histogram, Pie-chart

General Awareness:
Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person.

The questions relating to India and its neighboring countries, especially pertaining to History, Economic Scene, General policy , Culture, Geography and scientific research.
