The idea of establishing a South Asian University (SAU) was mooted by the Prime Minister of India at the 13th SAARC Summit in Dhaka in 2005.

The idea found favor in all SAARC Member States and an inter-ministerial agreement for establishment of South Asian University was signed on 04 April 2007, during the 14th SAARC Summit in New Delhi.

Master in Computer Applications

Master in Computer Applications program offered by South Asian University provides a limited exposure of emerging inter-disciplinary techniques in governance, finance, life sciences, etc.

The proposed curriculum is inter-disciplinary in nature and prepares one for higher learning not only in the field of Information and Communication Technology but also in the allied areas of computational sciences, Information Technology enabled management etc.

3 important components: analytical tools, computing and computational techniques, and emerging applications have been incorporated. Special care is taken to keep the students abreast of the current and future trends in the field
