The University Advising Center is having its main mission is to partner with pre-major students as they navigate their academic interests and requirements and develop independent informed decision-making skills.

All entering SMU students are assigned an advisor in the UAC.

For students in the University Honors Program, and students majoring in the engineering and the fine arts (music, art, theatre, and dance), the UAC will provide specialized academic advising.

The UAC also provides students interested in the pre-health and pre-law programs with specialized pre-professional advising, which supplements the one-on-one relationship each student develops with his or her assigned advisor.
