Is the Sikkim Manipal University come under UGC or not? Someone said me that the Degree is not valid of Sikkim Manipal University. I am doing Graduation from the Sikkim Manipal University, so I want to get confirmation that my Degree is valid or not to get job or Master Degree? Provide me some official documents of approval from UGC?

Can you tell me if SMU (Sikkim Manipal University) is recognised by UGC (University Grants Commission) as I want to check it before applying for admission in it?

Sikkim Manipal University was established in 1995 and is a unique joint venture of the Government of Sikkim and the Manipal Group. It offers distance education programs as part of its effort to bring education to the masses, and fulfil the growing demand for technical and management professionals.


Sikkim Manipal University UGC Recognition


Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok is incorporated under the State Legislative Act (Act IX of 1995) of the Government of Sikkim. It is recognised by UGC under section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956.


Current Recognition Status
Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok is recognised by UGC to continue offering programmes through Open & Distance Learning (ODL) mode for the session 2017-2018 vide F. No. UGC/DEB-II/SMU/Recog./2015 Vol. V of the University Grants Commission dated 21/03/2017.
