Can you tell me which Entrance Exam do I have to clear to get admission in B. Tech Program offered by Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) under Sikkim Manipal University?

One has to clear SMIT B. Tech Admission Test to get admission in B. Tech programmes offered by SMIT (Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology).

One who clear the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Main and the MU OET (Manipal University Online Entrance Test) will also be eligible for admission under SMIT (Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology) B. Tech programmes. One will be awarded seats on the basis of the rank secured by them in the merit list.

Start date for application form December 18, 2017
Last date for filling the application form April 26, 2018 (Extended)
Offline test for SMIT B. Tech Admission April 29, 2018
Announcement of Result/Rank List May 7, 2018
First round of SMIT B. Tech Counselling
2018 for Reserved categories like Sikkim,
Defence, GTA, NE, PMF May 24, 2018
Counselling for General JEE candidates May 25, 2018
Counselling for SMIT B. Tech Test 2018
candidates May 28, 2018
Second round of counselling for JEE Main
or SMIT B.Tech 2018 candidates June 2, 2018
Date of reporting at campus July 12, 2018

Entrance Exams

Candidates must have cleared the following exams:
MU OET
JEE Main
SMIT B. Tech Admission Test
One appearing in the qualifying exam can also apply for the entrance exam

Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification


One who has passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects

Optional subjects in 10+2 must include Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Information Practices OR

One must have done diploma in any branch of engineering awarded by a State Board of Technical Education

Percentage of marks in the qualifying exams

One belonging to general category must score at least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam subjects that are mentioned in the academic qualification section of this table

One belonging to SC, ST OBC category must score at least 45% aggregate marks in the 10+2 level

One with diploma need to have minimum 50% aggregate marks for General category candidates and minimum 45% marks for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates

State Eligibility

One from Bhutan and Nepal are also eligible to appear in SMIT offline exam. If selected, the admission will be given under General Category
