The Iota Sigma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International established its charter at Azusa Pacific University in 1988.

It was preceded in 1980 by the Nursing Honor Society of Azusa Pacific College. The chapter currently includes approximately 800 members.

The Azusa Pacific University School of Nursing offers both baccalaureate and master's degrees in nursing, as well as credential programs for nurse specialist, nurse practitioner, and school nurse.
