The Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS) is established under U.P. Act No. 35 of 2016, as passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature.

It is established and administered by the Ecumenical Minority Christian Society namely the Sam Higginbottom Educational and Charitable Society registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860 in the State of Uttar Pradesh.


Accreditation and Affiliations

SHUATS is a recognized member of Association of Indian Universities, Association of Commonwealth Universities, Indian Agricultural Universities Association and International Association of Universities.

It has been re-accredited with a CGPA of 3.14 on a four-point scale and has received an ‘A’ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). SHUATS was accredited in 2009 by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and in 2010 by Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE).

In a public notice dated 24 April 2017 the University Grants Commission (UGC) debarred SHIATS, Allahabad from offering any programme through Open and Distance Learning mode for a period of four years i.e. from the academic session 2016-17 to 2019-20 and directed SHIATS not to admit any student in any of its Distance Education programmes during the debarred period.
