In which the highest salary package offers from the Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) and Divisional Railway Manager (DRM)? And also tell me which one is easy to get into from the Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) and Divisional Railway Manager (DRM)??

Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) exam has been temporarily discontinued by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). There was a certain procedure to become Divisional Railway Managers (DRM) through SCRA exam, After one qualify SCRA exam, one has to go for training for about 3-4 years. Then after training, one will be appointed in Group A Officers. One will be Junior Grade officer; here working at this post for 2 years will land to Senior Grade officer. After 6-8 years of ones same pay scale service, one will be appointed DRM on the basis of ones skills and performance. Career in SCRA (Special Class Railway Apprentice) Step by Step Promotion in SCRA 1. On completion of the probation which is of 18 months, one is posted as an officer in Junior scale. 2. Promotion to the senior scale takes place after 2 years of service in working post. 3. After 6 to 7 years of service, the officer is promoted to the junior administrative grade, which has two levels, to be served for 8-10 years. This is followed by the selection grade. 4. The next in seniority is the senior administrative grade, equivalent to the joint secretary, government of India which is obtained by 16-18 years of service. 5. Officers of the grade may be posted as heads of various workshops in the field, as heads of a department functioning at the headquarters office, as addition divisional railway manager or as the executive director in Railway Board. 6. After 6 to 8 years, while remaining in the same pay scale, officers are selected to be appointed as Divisional Railway Managers (DRM). There are 60 divisions and this is a tenure posting for 2 to 3 years. The DRM is most sought after posting. 7. After DRM the next is Additional General Manager and finally general manager (GM) of a zone. Indian Railway has been divided into 16 zones. Each of the 16 zones is headed by a GM who reports directly to the Railway Board. |
