Guru Nanak Dev University was established at Amritsar, India on November 24, 1969 to commemorate Guru Nanak Dev's birth quincentenary celebrations.

School of Social Sciences is housed in the Social Sciences Block behind the the Asia House Building.

It was established in the year 2003 realizing the need of changing educational scenario in India and its growing interdisciplinary orientation
