Prof. Dr. N. Sridharan has been Professor and Head of the Department of Regional Planning at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi where he has been teaching since 1990.

Prof. Dr. N. Sridharan has been the recipient of many prestigious scholarships, including the Polish Government Scholarships of UNESCO and Australian Government Scholarship.

Prof. Dr. N. Sridharan is one of the Vice Presidents of the Regional Science Association, India.

Prof. Dr. N. Sridharan worked with the Town and Country Planning Organisation, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India;

Prof. Dr. N. Sridharan working on the cost and urban infrastructure access in various towns in India.

Prof. Dr. N. Sridharan worked as an Economist with the Punjab National Bank and was instrumental in setting up its Housing Subsidiary.

Prof. Dr. N. Sridharan also served as a part-time Acting Director for a National Level NGO for seven years.

Prof. Dr. N. Sridharan has been a nominated member of the Housing Committee of FICCI (since 2004).
