Is SBI offers Zero balance account Scheme for students and salaried employees??

SBI has removed its minimum balance condition which demands its customers to maintain minimum 1000 as average minimum balance. Now SBI have waived this minimum balance criteria from saving bank accounts.

SBI offers Zero Balance Account that means no minimum balance criteria on normal saving bank account and this facility is for both new and existing customers.

Usually SBI bank is tie up with companies and offers zero balance accounts to salaried employees and this type of saving accounts are called as corporate salary accounts. Even some banks also offer zero balance account to there women customers.

SBI launch this account mainly for the students so that students can open their account and even maintain at 0 balance.

ICICI Bank Ltd

A SBI Basic Savings Account can be opened free of cost at any SBI branch. It is KYC compliant and can be operated as a single account or jointly. There is no upper limit set for the balance amount held in the account.


It can be easily accessed and a cheque book will also be issued along with it. It can be transferred between SBI branches free of cost. One cannot open any other SB account, if one holds a SBI Basic Savings Account.


All other accounts have to be closed within 30 days of opening a SBI Basic Savings Account. 4 free ATM withdrawals are allowed every month from SBI or other bank ATMS. Any withdrawal after that would be charged. Utility bill payments can be done using this account.
