The Robotics Institute is part of the School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University. The Robotics Institute was founded in 1979. It has been leading the world in integrating robotic technologies into everyday life.

Robotics Institute (RI) is a division of the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1979 and the RI was the first robotics department at any US university.

RI occupies facilities on the Carnegie Mellon main campus as well as in the Lawrenceville and Hazelwood neighborhoods of Pittsburgh.
