The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to decide eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals. Eligibility Criteria: The candidates are required to have score 55 per cent marks in Masters Degree. The candidates who are in their final year of Masters programme or those whose examinations have been delayed can also apply. The candidates who hold PhD degree and have completed their Masters degree shall be provided with relaxation of marks up to 5 per cent. Also, the candidates who have qualified the UGC/CSIR JRF examination need not have to necessarily appear for NET. University Grants Commission NET is conducted by CBSE twice in a year for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the: Award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and/or Eligibility for Lectureship in Indian universities and colleges. Eligibility Criteria Lectureship: There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship eligibility. Junior Research Fellowship: The age limit for JRF is 28 years of age. Students must have obtained minimum 55% marks in Master’s Degree from recognised universities in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. Students belongs to (SC)/ (ST)/ (PWD) category must have obtained minimum 50% marks Students appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination are also eligible . Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation only.
