For building higher education institutions active hubs of academic activity, the UGC- Academic Staff Colleges now renamed as UGC- Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) have to foreseen their new role, multidimensional and integrative in the higher education system.

Keeping this in intellect UGC has granted establishment of Academic Staff College (ASC) in Sambalpur University and based on this endorsement, this ASC has started functioning from November 2000, organising different Refresher Courses, Orientation Programmes and other short term courses.
