Yes, girls are allowed to participate in UPSC Combined Defence Services Exam but only for Officers Training Academy.

Here are details;

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC ) conducts the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination twice a year for recruitment to the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Eligibility criteria
Officers Training Academy (Womenâ??s)
Female
Unmarried
Minimum age 19 and maximum age 25

The applicant should have Bachelors Degree from a recognized University (or equivalent)

Women are eligible for admission to only Officers Training Academy.

All candidates appearing for the Combined Defence Services must be physically fit.

Application Fees:
The application fees is Rs. 200/- however Female, SC, ST are not required to submit any fees.

Subjects are:
English

The English exam aims to test your understanding and comprehension of English language and workmanlike use of words.

General Knowledge

The General Knowledge exam will include topics under current events, history of India, geography and will test your observation skills.

Elementary Mathematics
Mathematics exam will focus on:
Arithmetic
Algebra
Trigonometry
Geometry
Mensuration
Statistics

Important dates
Online application begins 2nd November 2013
Online application ends 2nd December 2013
Examination date 9th February 2014
