The University of Mysore is a public state university in Mysore founded during the reign of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, the Maharaja of Mysore. It encompasses 180 affiliated colleges and four constituent colleges.

It has 37 postgraduate departments, eight specialised research and training centres, and two postgraduate centres. It also runs a number of employment-oriented diploma courses and certificate programs.


Its vision is to aspire to become a world-class University by tapping human resources from all sections of society by offering them opportunities to learn across disciplines, and to build human capital, men and women of character and competence capable of being leaders of tomorrow and solving problems arising out of fast changing realities – global and local.
