North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) was setup by the Government of India, at first as a venture of the North Eastern board, for giving an arrangement of Education to make specialized labor at different levels for the improvement of the North Eastern Region of the nation. NERIST appeared as a one of a kind establishment of its kind in the nation having unpredictable and inventive scholarly projects.

The scholarly projects in designing/innovation stream at NERIST comprise of three autonomous modules, each of two years length barring span courses. The three modules are called Certificate, Diploma, and Degree modules.
