The Savitribai Phule Pune University is located in western India, in the city of Pune. It was founded in 1948. it is approved by UGC, NAAC, AIU. Pune University PhD entrance exam – Eligibility- Post Graduate Degree(Master Degree) Examination with at least 50% marks or equivalent Grade Point Average(GPA). Candidate having passed Post-Graduate Degree (Master Degree) Examination Law Faculty with at least 55%. 5% relaxation for reserve category students of Maharashtra State only. Tentative dates- Start Date of Online Application Form 14th October 2013 End Date of Online Application Form 31st October 2013 Last Date of submission for Printed Application Form along with Documents 6th November 2013 Date of online Ph.D. Aptitude Test (Paper 1) 17th November 2013 Date of Result 18th November 2013 Syllabus for Ph.D. Entrance Exam- Section I : English The focus is on the receptive and productive uses of English. 1. Reading Comprehension 2. Grammar – Tenses, Prepositions, Conjunctions, Passive Voice, Articles, Pronouns,Subject – Verb Agreement, Word order and Direct- Indirect Speech. 3. Vocabulary – Choice of Appropriate Words, Synonyms, Antonyms and Lexical Sets. 4. Spelling Section II: General Knowledge The syllabus consists of the following components. The focus is on contemporary relevance of the areas mentioned below 1. World History: Salient events from world history those have bearing on the contemporary world. These would include events such as reformations, renaissance, Soviet revolution, Chinese revolution, American Civil War, colonialism and anti colonial movements. 2. World Geography: Basic information about the physical, environmental and political aspects of the world today. 3. World politics: Significant political events, institutions and trends in the contemporary world. 4. International Relations: Current international events, organizations and trends. 5. Economic Issues: Significant developments in global economies that affect the contemporary world. 6. Socio- Cultural issues 7. Science and technology in everyday life: (a) recent developments in environmental sciences, life sciences, physical sciences, material sciences, chemical sciences and biological science; (b) ethical issues in science and technology. High-Speed and reliable internet connection 8. Communication: Means and Techniques. 9. Reasoning; basic concepts in and approaches to research. The question paper would carry 100 multiple choice questions that cover all the areas mentioned above. By and large equal weight age would be given to each area. Firstly I would like to inform you that the registration has been closed as the last date for online application was 26th October 2015 and the hard copy to be submitted was 31st October 2015. Eligibility Criteria & Other Details For admission to the Ph.D. programme in a related subject in the faculty, applicants fulfilling the following criteria shall be treated as eligible: a) Person having a post Graduate Degree(Master Degree) Examination with at least 50% marks or equivalent Grade Point Average(GPA). b) Persons having passed Post-Graduate Degree (Master Degree) Examination Law Faculty with at least 55%. c) 5% relaxation for reserve category students of Maharashtra State only. Scheme of Examination The Examination will consist of Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper-I :- Research Aptitude Test For Paper-I, examination shall be conducted online at the examination centers at Pune. Total Marks : 100 Total Questions : 100 Each correct answer carries 1 Mark. Duration: 90 Minutes Paper-I consists of 3 Parts. a. Language competency b. Numerical ability c.
