I would like to know about the Progressive Education Network’s purpose as well as the principles and also the schools which are associated with it?

The Progressive Education Network came in to existence to herald the practices of progressive pedagogy and to connect educators with one another to share ideas, practices, experiences. The educatin network host national conferences and support regional gatherings to help teachers get together.

The purpose of The Progressive Education Network is to support the main principles of progressive education and influence the course for the national dialogue about early childhood, elementary, and secondary education in America.

Principles

Though educators have been challenged in agreeing upon a single definition for progressive education, consensus builds around these defining principles:

Education should prepare students for active participation in a democratic society.
Education should focus on students' social, emotional, academic, cognitive and physical development.
Education should nurture and support students' natural curiosity and innate desire to learn. Education should foster internal motivation in students.
Education should be responsive to the developmental needs of students.
Education should foster respectful relationships between teachers and students.
Education should encourage the active participation of students in their learning, which arises from previous experience.
Progressive educators should play an active role in guiding the educational vision of our society.
