Indian Maritime University conducts Common Entrance Test (CET) to take aspirants for various courses. Eligibility Criteria: For UG Programmes: Aspirants must possess good binocular vision Aspirants should have passed or appearing the final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized central/state Board or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects The age of the aspirants should not be more than 25 years (for General) and 30 years (for SC/ST) as on 01st August 2014 Courses or Programs offered by IMU B.Sc Nautical Science B Sc Ship Building and Repair - 3years Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering- Bachelor of Technology -4 years B.Sc Maritime Science B Tech Marine Engineering 4 year program. Selection Procedure: Written Test GD or PI IMU CET Examination Pattern Multiple choice questions are asked in this exam. Time Duration- 180 minutes or 3 hours. Total number of questions-180. Subjects- Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, General Knowledge, English and Aptitude. IMU CET Exam Dates: Date of Submission: 20th May 2014 IMU CET 2014 Exam Date : 14th June, 2014 IMU CET 2014 Result Date : 18th June, 2014 |

A career in merchant navy is adventurous as well as interesting. The following courses prepare the aspirants to join Merchant Navy. 1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers Marine Engineering for (10+2) students, 4 year degree course Nautical Science for (10+2) students, 3 year duration course 2 year course for Diploma Holders 3 month course for Deck Cadets for (10+2) students For students who have completed their 10th 3 month Pre-Sea Course for Deck rating. Purpose (GP) rating. 4 month Pre-Sea Course for Saloon rating. 3 month Pre-Sea Course for Engine rating. 4 month Pre-Sea Course for General Training institutes in India The public sector organizations include: . Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai. Training Ship Chanakya, Navi Mumbai. Lal Bahadur Shastri College of advanced Maritime Studies and Research, Mumbai. Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata The course these institutes provide include Pre Sea and post sea training which makes the candidates to face even the toughest situation in their career. Qualification for joining merchant navy as officer Applicants who wish to pursue a career in Merchant navy should complete the 12th class with physics as the optional subject. Chemistry and Maths should be the other subjects of study. Applicants physical and mental health should be sound and the eyesight should be sharp i.e 6/6. Career in the Merchant Navy is considered a glamorous job and it offers an opportunity to visit new and exotic places all around the globe. Eligibility Criteria: • Eligibility for joining merchant navy is class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. • Candidates have to be unmarried Indian citizens (male or female). • Normal vision is required but glasses up to plus or minus 2.5 may be allowed. • Admission is through an entrance followed by a screening test and a main written examination. • After clearing the test, there is an interview and a medical test. • Candidates also need to complete a ship-training course prior to the employment. Selection Procedure: Candidates are selected for the B.Sc. Nautical Science degree of TS Chanakya, Mumbai; and the four-year Marine Engineering degree course at Marine Engineering Research Institute (MERI), in Calcutta and Mumbai, known as DMET, through the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) followed by personal interviews/counseling. Entry level for a fresh Marine Engineer (ME) is at the rank of fifth engineer or junior engineer and a Nautical Science graduate is as a Deck Cadet. Merchant Navy be a good career option after 12th. Merchant Navy tasks may include Passenger ships, Tanker ships, cargo ships, bulk carriers, refrigerator ships, container ships, barge carrying ships including roll on/roll off ships . Candidate who wish to join Merchant Navy have to appear in IMU CET exam . Eligibility for IMU CET exam: Merchant Navy can be joined after 12th as an officer through various degree or diploma courses in two specialized fields as Nautical (Deck) and Marine engineering. Unmarried Female and Male candidate are eligible . Age Limit : 16-25 Years Medical Standards: Candidates should be physically and Mentally strong. Eye-Sight : 6/6 without glasses, No color Blindness. IMU CET syllabus: Syllabus All the questions in IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) are generally asked from the syllabus of Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) of Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2), recognized by any state/national Board. The candidates have to prepare all the fundamentals of these subjects before appearing for IMU CET Exam.
