You can get job in Indian Railways through Civil Services Examination and Combined Engineering Services Examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).

Through Civil Services exam, Group 'A' candidates are recruited for following services:

Indian Railway Traffic Service,
Indian Railway Accounts Service,
Indian Railway Personnel Service,
Railway Protection Force (RPF)

Through Combined Engineering Services Exam, Group 'A' students are recruited for following services

Indian Railway Service of Engineers,
Indian Railway Stores Service,
Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers,
Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers,
Railway Service of Signal Engineers

You can also join the railway through UPSC Special Class Railway Apprentice Examination.

Procedure to get jobs in railways is through the examinations conducted by the various Railway recruitment Boards.

RRB calls for eligible applicants through “Employment News” (A publication of the Government of India) and also through notifications in Railway Recruitment website.

The applications are verified for eligibility.

Eligible applicant are then called for a written examination with call letters being sent a month in advance of the date of the test.

Examinations are generally held in Allahabad; if no of candidates is very large exam may be held at Lucknow or other locations as necessary.

You can check the railway recruitment website which looks like the image attached




The results of selection of every stage will be made available at the following:
• on the Notice Board of RRB
• in “The Employment News” and various newspapers, both local & national
• Through the Internet website of railway recruitment.
• And to the successful candidates through registered post as well.
