Cosmologists are the scientists who study about the astronomical principles that govern the heavenly bodies like stars, planets, comets, meteors, galaxies and natural satellites

Eligibility Requirements

Aspirants can begin their academics in the undergraduate level by pursuing a Bachelor of Technology Degree or a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Admission based on the entrance examinations taken by the concerned colleges and/or the marks received in the qualifying exam.

Aspirants can choose from courses like Bachelor of Technology in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Physical Sciences, Astronomy, Bachelor of Science in Physics.

Following the successful completion of the Bachelor’s degree, aspirants can further go ahead for a
Master of Technology in Propulsion
RF and Microwave Engineering, Digital Signal Processing
Optical Engineering
Master of Science in Astrophysics or Physics

IIST is one of the preferred institutions in India to pursue courses in fields related to cosmology.

Application & Selection Procedure

Applications in a prescribed format have to be sent to the concerned institutions.

Academic records and other relevant criteria will be the basis on which the candidates will be short-listed.

While admissions to the Bachelors and Masters degrees specify entrance examinations by the concerned institutions or GATE, Ph.D candidates have to clear the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) Examination.

Short-listed candidates will have to face the interview board.

Once the academic requirements have been completed, aspirants can seek a career as Research Scientist, Quantitative Analyst, Lecturer, Statistician Developer, Optical Engineer etc. with institutions like ISRO.
