Re: Preparation for NIFT B.Des Entrance Exam

National Institute of Fashion Technology will conduct entrance exam for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs in design and fashion.
Here are details about NIFT B.Des entrance exam:

Eligibility:
The candidate must have passed 10+2 level examination from any Central/State Board of Examination such as CBSE or State Board New Delhi and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

Exam Pattern
Phase 1 of NIFT Admission consists of Paper Based Test 1 (PBT 1) that is conducted for all UG and PG programs.

Phase 2 of NIFT 2014 Admission consists of Paper Based Test 2 (PBT 2) that is conducted for Bachelor of Design and Master of Design programs only.

Computer Based Test (CBT 1) is conducted for Bachelor of Fashion Technology, Master of Fashion Management and Master of Fashion Technology only.

In both the phases, following tests will be conducted:

GAT- General Ability Test
CAT- Creative Ability Test
Situation Test
Group Discussion/Personal Interview

Syllabus:

General Ability Test (GAT) for Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) syllabus is here:

This test will comprise of various section as given below –
Quantitative Ability
Communication Ability
English Comprehension
Analytical Ability
General Knowledge and Current Affairs

Quantitative Ability:This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub test consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio and Proportion, and Distance.

Communication Ability:This sub-test is aimed at testing the language ability of the candidates in day to day communication in English. It includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings, etc.

English Comprehension:This sub-test is to test one’s ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage and test of basic English language.

Analytical Ability:This sub-test is designed to test the candidate’s inference and logic from the given information.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate’s general knowledge and current affairs.

Creative Ability Test (CAT):This test is administered to judge the intuition skill, power of observation, innovation in development of a concept and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative medium use of color and illustration skills.
