Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. takes constant action regarding operation and maintenance to look for fulfillment with prescribed standards to achieve high availability of the system for uninterrupted power supply to customers. Requirements and processes by POWERGRID: • Condition measurement and monitoring techniques are used to help optimize maintenance intervals and reduce system outages • POWERGRID developed flexible working practices to take advantage of the system conditions for everyday maintenance work and also modify the annual maintenance programme according to generation maintenance schedules • Techniques like - live-line working are also used to allow certain types of maintenance to be carried out without taking transmission lines out of service • Emergency restoration systems are used for early renovation in case of natural disasters and other exigencies. It has achieved an availability of 99.95% per year. It adopts Hot line maintenance of transmission lines and Substation equipment to ensure the high availability. Emergency Restoration Systems are organizing to restore collapsed towers due to natural calamity in shortest possible time and use of helicopters for transmission line patrolling and washing of insulators. Spares are administer and kept at appropriate locations for early restoration and minimize outage. Extensive on-line health assessment and monitoring equipments are fixed at important equipment for continuous health monitoring. Well equipped, accredited Oil Testing Laboratories are established at 6 locations across India for Condition Assessment of oil filled equipment. Measures employed by POWERGRID: Technology: It has modernized all the Regional Load Dispatch Centres (RLDCS) with the state-of-the-art Unified Load Despatch & Communication (ULDC) schemes at a cost of about Rs. 2,000 Crore. Manpower: Expert manpower has been deployed to make the fullest use of the technology employed. These modernized RLDCs are greatly contributing to bring quality and economy in the operation of the power system besides improving data availability, visibility and transparency. |
