Power Grid Corporation of India is a Central Public Sector Enterprise. It is an electric utilities company headquartered in Gurgaon.

Company established on 23 October 1989 . Company established under the Companies Act, 1956 with an authorized share capital of Rs. 5,000 Crore.

Its original name was the 'National Power Transmission Corporation Limited'. Name of company was subsequently changed to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, on October 23, 1992.
